In 1294 it was called the church of St. Anne.

After 1635 it was rebuilt close to the castle walls and  called  Chiesa della Cancellata, referring to an image of the Virgin Lady whose evidence dates back to 1577.

Here you can admire the sixteenth century fresco of the "Madonna and Child with St. Blaise and Francis" by Paolo (or Jacopo) Pittori.

The church belonged to Mancia’s  family and some of its members are buried here.
